Enhancing Faith Institutions (EFI) took part in a 3 day workshop to raise awareness and launch the roadmap to Countering Terrorist Threats and Vulnerable Targets in Tunisia from 30th May to 1st June, 2022. The event was organised and implemented by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). The Vulnerable Targets Programme supports Tunisia to develop capacities to counter terrorist threats against critical infrastructure, urban centres, tourist venues, religious sites and major events.

Shaukat Warraich, Director of EFI, presented on the panel titled ‘The role of the private sector and civil society on vulnerable targets protection’ and highlighted the value of public-private partnerships to protect religious sites. EFI was also part of the Brainstorming session on further actions and technical assistance required to implement the vulnerable target protection roadmap in Tunisia.
