The EFI and SOAR Project team attended the International and interdisciplinary Security, Democracy and Cities 2021 conference in Nice, organized by the European Forum for Urban Security (Efus). From 20-22 October, 2021, 250 European cities and regions gathered together to promote stronger, inclusive and sustainable urban security.

Present at the conference were a wide range of urban security actors – elected officials, local and regional authority officers, public administrations, magistrates, law enforcement agencies, social workers, researchers, representatives of the private sector and civil society actors – as well as representatives of European institutions and various international organizations. One of the key outcomes of the conference was the Security, Democracy and Cities Declaration, adopted in Nice on 22 October 2021, by elected officials and representatives of local and regional authorities.

The EFI and SOAR Project team was actively engaging with all the speakers and attendees at the event, sharing the important work being done in strengthening the security and resilience of at-risk religious sites and communities all across Europe.
