Reporting: To Senior Programme Coordinator and Project Director

Enhancing Faith Institutions (EFI) have three (3) fantastic opportunity for Community Development Officer’s (CDO) in France, Germany and Belgium (Inter/National position) to join our team based in Ireland/Dublin. You will join us on a full-time capacity, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of 45,000 – 50,000 EURO’s per annum depending on experience. 22 month. Contract. working in France and another European state.

Primary Purpose of the Role: Community Development Officer (CDO) role:

Reporting to the Senior European programme coordinator for safety of places of worship (POW) programme, the Community Development Officer (CDO) will work in an operational capacity, primarily concerned with organising training events, developing, and maintaining partnerships with leaders of places of worship. The events will be held across various regions in your assigned countries of operation.

Responsibilities of our Community Development Officer include:

• Playing a central role in the EFI’s approach to supporting safety in and around places of worship (POW)

• Ensuring the delivery of training events are of the highest quality and make a real difference to the communities that attend

• Ensuring our strategy addresses the priorities of POW leaders and volunteers involved with POW

• Supporting the development of our relationships with strategic partners

• Ensuring the work is effectively monitored and evaluated, working with internal audit teams

• Working with our central communications team as needed, ensuring community mobilisation activity and events are effectively promoted to faith leaders and the wider community as well as municipal/council authorities and law enforcement agencies

• Working with other area-based initiatives within the EFI portfolio, sharing learning and contributing to the development of EFI longer-term approach

• Appropriately working with community POW’s who are identified to be at risk and work with them to improve their safety and security

• Reporting on progress towards the development of area plans, producing and maintaining project plans, action plans and reports for a variety of audiences

• Working in partnership with various stakeholder to create a framework of support for community groups and POW

• The CDO will be expected to work in their base country as we as another European country during the fixed period

Base Country – Germany also engages in Poland and Hungary

Base Country – France also engages in Holland

Base Country – Belgium also engages in Denmark

Skills required in the Community Development Project Officer:

• A track record of developing and delivering community programmes that enable community mobilisation and wider development outcomes at individual and systems levels and supporting community growth

• A track record of developing and maintaining partnerships within the public, private, voluntary sectors or faith sectors

• Experience of developing new projects and excellent project management skills

• An awareness of the evidence bases on community development, community mobilisation/organising and or asset-based community development

• A track record or interest in interfaith engagement

• IT literate with the understanding and ability to use Microsoft Office effectively

• Ability to multitask, arrange events in different regions and countries and free to travel

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to work remotely and with distant supervision

• Ability to present at senior levels and supervise and manage diverse interest

• Ability to communicate in English
